To Our Ignition Faithful

You may have heard that LogMeIn just launched a new, free remote control app in the App Store. With the announcement of this launch you might be wondering what that means for you and the freedom and flexibility you’ve come to love and depend on with Ignition.

Rest assured, LogMeIn is taking care of our dedicated Ignition users. In fact, as an early adopter of Ignition we’re updating your app to include HD remote control, video streaming and sound at no additional cost to you.  No subscription required.  No change to the features and functionality you love in Ignition.

We developed the new LogMeIn iOS app to continue the tradition we started with LogMeIn Free, providing users with free remote control of their PC or Mac from anywhere.

While users of the new LogMeIn app will need to purchase a subscription of LogMeIn Pro to use File Manager, Cloud Bank, or the new HD remote control, as an Ignition user your app will be updated for free, simply download the update on your iOS device.

Think of it as our way of saying Thank You.  Happy Holidays.

LogMeIn Ignition for iOS introduces My Cloud Bank

We just released an update LogMeIn Ignition for iPad/iPhone.  With the latest release users can link their Ignition product to popular cloud services, like Dropbox, Google Docs and WebDav, to access all their files anytime, anywhere on their iOS devices.   My Cloud Bank works like File Manager within the app, so users can easily move files between computers, their local device and their clouds.

My Cloud Bank allows LogMeIn Ignition users the ability to take full advantage of being remote by connecting them to their files no matter where they are. We’ve extended the functionality of our File Manager feature and given users the benefit of using cloud storage services in conjunction with remote access and local file storage on their devices.

LogMeIn Ignition for Android: Update for Honeycomb Tablets

LogMeIn Ignition Honeycomb Update

LogMeIn Ignition for Android has been reworked from the ground up so the Ignition UI looks, feels and works great on the most recent Android tablets.  We know you’ve been patiently waiting for our update; it’s here and runs well on the tablet-optimized OS.

We heard you loud and clear. The LogMeIn Ignition for Android update also addresses previous compatibility issues with certain models and builds and promises to deliver a more powerful experience on your Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom and other tablets running Honeycomb OS. The update is a testament to your ongoing feedback.  So please keep it coming.

Also included in today’s Android update is Direct Mode. Direct Mode blends touch and click navigation, allowing you to simply click the screen for easy navigation. Direct Mode joins “Screen moves” and “Mouse moves” as your computer scrolling methods, giving you the flexibility to navigate your files and information however you’d like.

The update is free for existing LogMeIn Ignition for Android owners and available now in Google’s Android Marketplace.

Have great meetings with Ignition, iOS 5 and Apple TV

OK, so you’ve got iOS 5, downloaded the latest Ignition update, tested out iMessage– now what?

A new feature, introduced by Apple in iOS 5, allows the ability to stream apps and content from your Apple device to a television using Apple TV.  And that introduces some interesting new possibilities for Ignition.  With this feature, you can share exactly what’s on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S with everyone in your next meeting with just a few clicks.  Stream your desktop — web pages, spreadsheets, photos, etc.

Here’s how we did it:

1. Make sure you have an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S running iOS 5.
2. Ensure your Apple TV and iPad 2 are connected to the same WiFi network.
3. Double-tap the home button on your iPad, slide to the right, and press the “AirPlay” button.
4. Use Ignition to access your computer or broadcast your favorite apps for a truly unique meeting experience.

Our Boston office has Apple TVs in all our common areas, and combined with Ignition’s ability to access our desktops and files, we seem to have everything at our fingertips. Apple TVs sell for $99 so it’s a pretty cheap investment for a potentially big benefit for your team.

Coming soon: Ignition iOS update

I’m Tara, the new Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Ignition. You’ll be hearing more from me in the coming months, but I get the pleasure of telling you about our upcoming iOS update as my first blog post.

We just submitted the app to Apple for approval so we’re just days away from getting you the latest enhancements and improvements. We’re excited about the three new features coming to users of Ignition for iOS.  For now, I’m giving you a sneak peak of our photos and videos feature which allows you to copy photos between your iPad/iPhone photo library and Ignition, so they’re always accessible in one place.

Fresh off the development build, here are some screen shots.

I have gigabytes of photos on my desktop computer and I obviously can’t carry all of them with me. Now I can easily grab my favorite photo of my home town (Anchorage, AK), copy them to Ignition using File Manager and they’re automatically available in the Photo app on my new iPad2. Slick!

Stay tuned for more details on our update, it’s coming soon.
