Sneak Peek: Wake sleeping computers right from your iPad or iPhone

Wake me up Scotty… We’re excited to give you another sneak peak of our next update to LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone/iPad.  Based on user feedback, we’re planning to add the ability to turn on a sleeping computer using Wake On LAN.  Whether it’s your PC or Mac, LogMeIn Ignition will soon be able to wake those sleeping computers.  Stay tuned for more information, but it’s coming soon.

    • Jules, thanks for your note. We look at rolling enhancements across OS builds, and it definitely makes sense for WOL and Windows.

      • Yes… I’d have thought so 😉

Could do with plugging the memory leaks…
And the ability to reconnect a dropped connection instead of having to close the window, go back to Ignition and re-Remote Control…
Great tool but a frustrating one at times 🙂

    • You can *wake* a mac, but you can’t turn it on if it’s completely off. And if it’s connected via wifi and asleep or off, it doesn’t have an active wifi signal, so wake on lan won’t work.

    • You can wake a Mac… But I doubt it if it’s connected via Wifi… I know my Dell laptops have a WOL option for LAN & Wifi…
But I have never seen anything for that on the Mac…

  1. sounds good if it works, regarding waking a mac.

But Ignition needs to have remote sound feature more than this.

    • Thanks Dave. I’m curious on how you would use remote sound in this way. If you could share any info, much appreciated.
