Upgrading to Windows 8? We’re ready!

We’re pleased to announce the latest version of LogMeIn is available. With this update we support the highly anticipated launch of Windows 8. If you’re planning on upgrading your systems, simply update your LogMeIn hosts and you’re ready to go.  Any new systems you install LogMeIn on will automatically have the most recent version 4.1.2600.

We will be rolling out auto updates over the next few days, but to ensure you have the most recent version, simply open the LogMeIn host software and click About>Check for Updates.

  1. This is great news guys!

We have been using the older versions of LogMeIn with Windows 8 and have had no issues but we are very glad to hear that you are officially supporting it.

One question: do you have plans for a native Modern / Metro Windows 8 version of LogMeIn Ignition? It would be a great addition. The native Remote Desktop Win8 app from Microsoft is good but for our remote systems, we use LogMeIn much more.

    Keep up the great work!

  2. Trying to update LogMeIn Free per your recommendation in the Windows 8 thread.

Auto-update enabled for two Windows 7 machines, but it doesn’t seem to be working.
I started investigating after the 64-bit PC got an error on boot and sent an error report to LogMeIn. I tried to manually update both machines and found 64-bit with the error updated to 4.1.0.2600, but the 32-bit machine says no update available and is stuck at 4.1.0.2504.

Anything I can do to force update of the 32-bit machine?

  3. I would also like to know if a Windows Store App version of Ignition is in the works that would support Windows RT. I have purchased a Surface RT tablet to replace my Android tablet.

    • Hi Brad, right there with you, I would love to use my surface for work and bought just after they came out.
I called up Log me in and found out it was not supported
Please let know what you find out

    • Ditto for me – still waiting. In the mean time TeamViewer have a free Win RT app that works quite nicely. Come on LogMeIn – what’s the hold-up?

  4. It seem there is a bug in version 4.1.2600 on Win8x64 when I use “Make text and other items larger or smaller” 125% or 150% logmein stops to work!

  5. Using the new ASUS win8 RT tablet … problems with logmein it Would not let me login to my controlled computers.. Is there an upgrade yet ?

  6. Still doesn’t work properly ios can’t login and pc side application freezes often when trying to fix settings.

  7. I had to do a new install instead of an upgrade.

When I try to install I get an error message; Internal Error 2203

  8. I’m not sure who the H__L LogMeIn is and what company they represent. Why should I upgrade with an unknown outfit. Can’t say for sure but don’t think I have ever worked with you since I bought this computer.

    • Norman W Harper, you should do your homework before ranting like this. Clearly you’ve installed LogMeIn because otherwise it wouldn’t be asking you to upgrade. Perhaps the person you bought the machine from has installed it so that they can log on to your computer when you need help.

Or maybe they are logging into your computer at night, copying your files and seeing your internet history. LogMeIn can be used for good or for evil. Either way, it’s on your computer. If you don’t want it, then remove it the regular way. Stop complaining here about something that’s your fault.

  9. I am also experiencing the bug where LogMeIn does not work properly using “Make text and other items larger or smaller” in Windows 8.

  10. I do not wish to join this and please stop sending me these update messages.!! I unsubscribed months ago.

  11. Very nice! I’m glad to see you are getting ready for Windows 8, however I have no Windows 8 workstations yet and won’t for a few months at least. I’d rather hold off on the LMI client upgrade on every workstation if there is no benefit and/or no need.

Can you help me find the release notes for whatever upgrade you are asking me to perform?

Also, how long can I continue to use the current version I’m on now (4.1.0.2504)?

    Thank you!

  12. Wow – a lot hate in these comments. From some of the comments it sounds like people bought a PC from an OEM that installed LogMeIn as a support tool – to those people simply uninstall it if you don’t want prompts from LogMeIn and don’t want to use it.

For those people saying they don’t want Win8 and are sticking with Win7 what the hell has that got to do with this? It’s just an update to LogMeIn you don’t have to upgrade to Win8 to use it! But if you have got Win8 it should make things work a bit better. For crying out loud people stop complaining about free updates that fix things!

  13. PLease remove my address from your nagging reminders – leave me alone – I like things just as they are.

  14. I want to know for those of us who are still out there with Windows XP? I know we (I) should update to a new operating system. Put the funds are not there to do so. Logmein has been a real asset at times the few when I am out of town and away from my desk top. I would hate to loose that capability before I can upgrade.

    • Thanks for the blog Wayne. Again I am still trying to get an update acknowledgement from Log Me and if they will support my new surface which runs Windows 8 “RT”

  15. I am also experiencing a bug, my computer is very glitchy!! if this is not fixed is there a way i can go back to my old verison?? please

  16. Please remove my name from my list. I’m not interested. Bombarding me with daily “reminders” is a terrific turn-off.

    • So disappointing that the Windows 8- RT version is not being supported!

Is anything being done to address this soon?

      Thanks Bruce

  17. The only thing that is stoping me to buy lumia 920 is lack of ignition for windows 8 mobile !!

Please let me know , is it ever Gona happen ?

  18. Does anyone from LogMeIn read these messages? How many times does one need to request to be removed from this list? STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP! 20. There is a bug in windows 8 (dont know what version im at) and every few minutes my wifi gets disconnected and started ever since i installed hamachi, but worked perfectly in windows 7. The worst part is that it is unfixable because i uninstalled it very shortly after i installed it and it still does it to this day :(:(:( Is there any way to fix this?

  21. No-one in their right mind would downgrade to Windows 8 from Win 7 or even XP on a desktop machine. Both are vastly better -i.e. everything works!- than the clumsy dumbed-down mess that is Windows 8. I stuck with it for 2 weeks before scrapping the install and reinstalling Win7. What a relief!

  22. Please remove me and my address from your system. I do not wish to receive any more reminders.
