A new Cubby milestone: “Open Beta”

The Cubby Team is happy to share the next milestone in the evolution of Cubby: the “Open Beta” period.  Whether you’ve been looking to score that elusive invite or are finding out about Cubby for the first time, you now have instant access to the Web’s best sync and store service…and up to 25GB of free cloud storage.  Yeah, 25GB. And for those of you who already scored an invite?  We’ve got some great new stuff for you, too.  A lot of it may even sound familiar, as we’ve been working hard to incorporate a lot of your good ideas and feedback into a new and improved Cubby.

In addition to Open Beta, the newest version of Cubby on the web and desktop introduce:

A brand new website:  Cubby.com has been completely rebuilt from the ground-up with fresh design, new product tours, deeper dives on the industry-best security features, straight forward registration,  easy side-by-side information for comparing Cubby to some of the other cloud storage alternatives, and more.

Up to 25GB, free: All beta users still start with 5GB of free cloud storage in addition to our signature unlimited syncing of content across all your PCs and Macs – something we call DirectSync.  And now we’ve increased the amount of free storage you can earn just by inviting your friends or colleagues.  Simply share the love (i.e. invite someone into the Cubby beta), and you’ll earn an extra GB for every successful referral, up to 25GB.

LogMeIn and join.me accounts welcome:  If you’re already a user of LogMeIn’s other products, like our namesake remote access software or our rapidly growing screen-sharing and online meeting app, join.me, your path to digital happiness is that much faster.  No need to register to benefit from Cubby.  Simply login using your LogMeIn or join.me credentials and you are off and running.

Image thumbnails on the web: With Cubby.com’s redesigned interface, you can now easily view your images at-a-glance by selecting “thumbnail view.” Or, for listed browsing, you can toggle back to “list view” and see all files listed alphabetically.

Sync status and pause control: See a live, visual representation of your sync status (files and bytes remaining) by hovering over your syncing cubbies on the desktop app. Plus, temporarily pause syncing by selecting “Pause” from your taskbar.

Action buttons:  The new web-UI allows for uploading, public linking, accessing versions and downloading files in one, easy click.

Ideas Community: And finally, we’ll soon be rolling out a new community allowing you to submit and vote for the must-have features you’d like to see in Cubby. Early-access is available now at ideas.cubby.com and will soon be available for logged-in users at cubby.com

We’ll be providing a deep-dive into many of the above features and more over the week to come – so stay tuned to the blog. In the meantime, we’re eager to know what you think of the new changes. Leave us a comment or let us know by selecting “Talk Back” from the homepage.
